Blockstream and My First Bitcoin are collaborating to donate 1,000 Blockstream Jade Classic hardware wallets to independent Bitcoin educators. The devices will be distributed to the leading nodes within the My First Bitcoin Node Network, giving students hands-on tools to experience self-custody from their very first lessons.
From 50 devices to 1,000
The collaboration builds on earlier work. In 2023, My First Bitcoin distributed 50 Blockstream Jades to top students in its classes in El Salvador. This year, the effort scales dramatically, with one thousand devices reaching the network’s most active projects.
That network now spans 68 projects across more than 35 countries, all teaching financial literacy in their local communities using the open-source Bitcoin Diploma workbook. The donation extends free, practical tools to educational projects worldwide.
Self-custody in the classroom
Placing the Jade Classics in under-resourced classrooms means a thousand students can experience true self-custody and learn Bitcoin’s principles of decentralization, privacy, and ownership from day one.
